Twin Girls Senior Session, Downtown Green Bay & Botanical Gardens

Downtown Green Bay Twin Senior Girls Green Bay Botanical Gardens PhotosEmma and Lauren’s session was the third senior session we got to photograph for twins and it was such a joy! I love the challenge of creating equal images that are completely different to reflect their individual styles. It is also so much fun because of the dynamic of siblings and the fact that we get to do photos of them together as well! Lauren and Emma are really incredible people. They are both musically talented, and individually participate in student council, forensics, and school sports. When we planned for their session, they said the most important thing to them was vibrant color, which is a perfect fit for our style.

We planned two locations for their session — Downtown Green Bay for rustic brick and bright murals and Green Bay Botanical Gardens where we got to capture golden hour light and vivid yellows and purples that brought out the color in their clothing. Both girls chose fun wardrobe pieces to amp up the color, which worked well for both their individual photos and their photos together.

Their prints, albums, and wall art pieces have been arriving all week and it’s so much fun to see all the ways this family will get to enjoy their session for years to come!

Door County Greenhouse and Beach Senior Photos

Door County Senior Photos Door County PhotographersI’ve been looking forward to photographing Sophie’s senior photos for years. She’s one of the art students who I work with one-on-one up in Door County and we’ve known each other for a long time. So when the session planning began, we had many ideas for themes, locations, and outfits, and I couldn’t be happier with all the variety!

Sophie goes to Sevastopol High School in Door County. She’s a great student, involved in many activities, interested in arts, languages, and culture, and loves her animals. She is incredibly smart, kind, and conscientious. For her session, she knew she wanted to begin at Sunnypoint Gardens greenhouse, which was fun and original. She planned that stop with a silk, floral shirt that paired perfectly with the magenta in the flowers (I love color relationships in photographs — blame my art background!)  After that, we hopped across the street to Cornerstone Suites to photograph with the rustic buildings and field of wildflowers. Our last stop was for sunset at a Door County beach.

We were lucky enough to have the most beautiful calm day, and since fall was just around the corner, we had the beach all to ourselves. Sophie took off her Converse and walked out on the pier where the horizon was starting to blur water into sky and giving us the soft, even light that is so lovely for portraits. Best wishes on your senior year, Sophie!

Green Bay Botanical Gardens Senior Photos

Botanical Gardens PhotographerBriana traveled into town for her session at Green Bay Botanical Gardens. She learned about us from a senior we photographed a few years ago and loved her session so much that she chose the same location. One of my favorite challenges about senior photography is finding new ways to see a space we’ve photographed before. When we get to know people, who they are and their sense of style guides us make images that feel unique to them, no matter the location.

Green Bay Botanical Gardens is always a dream to photograph because of how many different looks are in one space. Yes there are flower gardens, but there is also a woods, a fountain, a pond, and stone and brick structures all which give us great variety as photographers. Briana is so naturally photogenic that she made our job easy! Best wishes on your senior year, Briana!

Door County Senior Photos at Pebble Beach and Anderson Dock

Door County Senior Photos Anderson Dock Photos, Ephraim, WisconsinRachel’s family has been traveling up to Door County for years. They have a place along the water in Sister Bay where they spend family weekends (including many cozy winter days!) So when Rachel started planning for her high school senior photo session, she knew exactly what she wanted to do.

Pebble Beach is located just around the corner from their condo, so they knew it’s beauty and felt connected to the place. We began our session in the evening with bright sun glowing off the water and waves splashing up on the rocks. Our next location was chosen because its a Door County staple, and (in my opinion) the best place to see a Door County sunset. That place is Anderson Dock a pier in Ephraim featuring The Hardy Gallery covered in graffitied names of visitors.

When we arrived, the sun was low enough for golden hour light, and we stayed long enough to capture a brilliant sunset. With the high water levels we’ve had this year, there was this infinity pool effect of the water meeting up with the top of the pier. It was the perfect magic for a summer session. Congratulations on your senior year and upcoming graduation, Rachel!

Downtown Green Bay Senior Photos

Soren and Erik’s senior session was planned for downtown Green Bay to provide us with an urban landscape for their high school yearbook photos. Twin brothers, Erik and Soren attend Notre Dame Academy where they love to play music, participate in German club, and spend time skateboarding and mountain biking. They liked the idea of a downtown location and we love the clean lines, texture, and creamy neutral tones that photograph so well. With a final year filled with IB classes, their academics are keeping them busy, but will set them up well as they prepare to head off to college next year. Best wishes for the future, Soren and Erik!

Seniors: gonzalo, bairds creek, green bay

When planning for Gonzalo’s senior photos, he and his family knew they wanted two things: fall color and to incorporate his soccer jersey. We knew we could make that happen and gave suggestions for a few different locations, the family eventually settling on Bairds Creek in Green Bay. Gonzalo plays soccer for Preble High School and plans to play in college as well. His second outfit was a great choice for late fall with the rich crimson brining out the warm tones in the leaves. We had a fun session and can’t wait to share their prints and album with them!

Seniors: claire, downtown de pere & bairds creek

Before every session we sit down with clients to get to know them and what their session goals are. During this time we also chat about style, location, and wardrobe “dos and don’ts”. I love getting to  know seniors and their parents so we are all comfortable at the session and we can make images that show off their unique personalities and sense of style.

Claire and Pat were such a joy to work with from our very first meeting! They are fun, funny, and Claire is natural in front of the camera. When we got to our first location and she stepped out of the car in this vintage, linen romper, I was so excited! It was a bold, fun outfit choice, and it totally paid off. We started the session downtown for some urban shots and ended at Bairds Creek where the color was just starting to turn and had that dreamy, warm sun that only happens in September. Enjoy your senior year, Claire!

Seniors: hope, cave point, door county & downtown green bay

It’s amazing how much variety we can capture when seniors pick two really cool locations! We started Hope’s senior portrait session in the summer at Cave Point in Door County and ended it in fall in downtown Green Bay. The variety of the seasons, wardrobe, and setting made it such a fun session for us to photograph. The Niagara Escarpment is always gorgeous to photograph and even though the water has been high this year, Hope braved the rocky climb down to the water and was rewarded with beautiful Lake Michigan waves crashing and pouring over the rock face. When we met up in Green Bay, the leaves were just turning gold and we were able to get an urban mood with brick, murals, and industry for our backgrounds. So much to love about this session!

Seniors: alli, green bay botanical gardens & green bay beach

It’s so fun for us when seniors choose two locations that are completely different from one another. With our first stop at Green Bay Botanical Gardens, we had beautiful greens, flowers, and fountain with everything precise and perfect, and with our second beachy location we got the wind and water completely untamed and beautiful. As we got to the bay, the wind picked up along the shore and we were worried about how it would affect pictures, but we actually love Alli’s windblown hair and dress, especially as the sunset glows in the background! Alli is sporty, easygoing, and fun, and we loved getting to know her and her family. Best wishes on your senior year and beyond, Alli!

Seniors: clara, jackson harbor, washington island, door county

This past winter I shared with Ben the fact that I longed to shoot a session on Washington Island. In spring we started chatting about how to make that happen, then out of nowhere, I received an email from Clara. Clara’s family has enjoyed the island for generations and for her it’s a home-away-from-home, the place to get away and reconnect with nature, family, and herself. With both of her parents as teachers, Clara and her sister are able to spend the majority of each summer at their cottage on Jackson Harbor.

For those who don’t know, my family has an old farmhouse on orchard land in Baileys Harbor that I connect to the same way Clara connects to her cottage, so when we started messaging I knew her session would be a perfect fit for us to photograph. After FaceTiming to plan her session, we set a date and packed our gear to board the Washington Island Ferry. The ferry departed from Gills Rock and took us across Death’s Door to the island. It was a beautiful, breezy ride. When we arrived, Clara’s family was there to greet us and share the island and all the spots they’ve enjoyed there over the years. It’s amazing to me all the memories that a place can hold, and how those memories can become the legacy of a family. Clara’s senior portraits were meant to be on Washington Island; anywhere else wouldn’t quite have been the same. Enjoy your senior year, Clara!
