Seniors: alli, green bay botanical gardens & green bay beach

It’s so fun for us when seniors choose two locations that are completely different from one another. With our first stop at Green Bay Botanical Gardens, we had beautiful greens, flowers, and fountain with everything precise and perfect, and with our second beachy location we got the wind and water completely untamed and beautiful. As we got to the bay, the wind picked up along the shore and we were worried about how it would affect pictures, but we actually love Alli’s windblown hair and dress, especially as the sunset glows in the background! Alli is sporty, easygoing, and fun, and we loved getting to know her and her family. Best wishes on your senior year and beyond, Alli!

Seniors: clara, jackson harbor, washington island, door county

This past winter I shared with Ben the fact that I longed to shoot a session on Washington Island. In spring we started chatting about how to make that happen, then out of nowhere, I received an email from Clara. Clara’s family has enjoyed the island for generations and for her it’s a home-away-from-home, the place to get away and reconnect with nature, family, and herself. With both of her parents as teachers, Clara and her sister are able to spend the majority of each summer at their cottage on Jackson Harbor.

For those who don’t know, my family has an old farmhouse on orchard land in Baileys Harbor that I connect to the same way Clara connects to her cottage, so when we started messaging I knew her session would be a perfect fit for us to photograph. After FaceTiming to plan her session, we set a date and packed our gear to board the Washington Island Ferry. The ferry departed from Gills Rock and took us across Death’s Door to the island. It was a beautiful, breezy ride. When we arrived, Clara’s family was there to greet us and share the island and all the spots they’ve enjoyed there over the years. It’s amazing to me all the memories that a place can hold, and how those memories can become the legacy of a family. Clara’s senior portraits were meant to be on Washington Island; anywhere else wouldn’t quite have been the same. Enjoy your senior year, Clara!

Seniors: emma, areva ridge acres horse stable, de pere

Emma’s session was originally planned for Lambeau Field (she’s a huge Packers fan), but with a rained out session and a change in plans, she decided to move to the stable to share one of her other great loves: horses. Emma has been showing horses for six years and has been riding since she was a little girl. It was only natural that her partner, Harley, got to be a part of her session. We ended up with a perfect, sunny evening, and Emma’s boho floral dress was the perfect fit for a location with fields, barns, and fenceposts.

Seniors: karlie, downtown green bay & bairds creek

It’s no secret how much we love fall! This year, with the arrival of baby Juniper, I knew we were going to miss most of the gorgeous color and warm fall light. Lucky for us, we had a couple sessions right before our baby girl arrived, like this one with Karlie! Karlie’s session was one of our favorites because she chose two very different locations which gave us really different looks – downtown Green Bay was all about the modern lines and urban textures, and Bairds Creek was filtered light and natural spaces. I adored her outfit choices (I mean, plum suede boots? Yes please!) and we had a great time exploring different poses and expressions with her. Karlie is on the swim team and throws for Ashwaubenon High, so we ended the session with a few photos in her letter jacket with some of her sports paraphernalia. Enjoy your senior year, Karlie!

Seniors: kellen, voyageur park de pere

Kellen’s senior session was one of the last we photographed before going on maternity leave.   The leaves were just starting to change and the sky had the soft moody tone it gets in fall. It was the perfect day for portraits. We chose Voyageur Park in De Pere as our location because it offered greenery, waterfront, and more industrial looks. Diverse locations like that make for sessions with good variety. Kellen was a natural in front of the camera and we had a blast capturing his personality and making timeless images. Since it had been years since their last family portrait, the {K} Family decided to add on a mini family session and include Kellen’s brothers, Jamie and Reed. Enjoy your senior year, Kellen!

Seniors: mckenna, ashwaubenon high school swim team

Having attended a small country high school myself, there are all sorts of academic clubs, social groups, and sports opportunities that I get to learn about from the students in the Green Bay area. Being as my school was small and many miles away from the nearest pool, the one swimmer who attended actually swam on a nearby school’s swim team. So talking with McKenna about competing on swim team, teaching lessons, and lifeguarding was entirely new (and interesting) to me.

McKenna swims for Ashwaubenon High School, and they have the most incredible new pool with lane lines in their school colors, and big windows that let in bright, natural light. When she mentioned doing senior portraits in her warm up gear, we thought that was a great idea! We love when seniors want to do something personal because it makes their images that much more unique. Congratulations to McKenna on her senior year, and best wishes for the rest of her swim season!

Portraits: victoria’s 15th birthday session, beach and preserve

After setting up Luis’s senior photo session and planning for photos at Voyageur Park and downtown Green Bay, Matilde had an idea to celebrate her daughter’s 15th birthday: her own portrait session. Victoria loves natural, artistic photos that have fashion photography influences, which is a perfect fit for our style. Together we looked at some source images to pick the perfect locations – one with blue water and a sandy beach, and the other with rustic fields of wildflowers and warm sunlight. We got exactly what we were hoping for, and Victoria chose outfits that complimented her boho vision for the session. Victoria celebrated her 15th birthday away from her extended family, and we hope that this session helps her feel extra special on this big milestone! Happy Birthday, Victoria!

Seniors: kasey, de pere nature preserve

When Kasey and her family got in touch about a senior session, I had to do a double-take on her name. I’ve only met two other Kaseys who spell their names like mine, so it’s a rarity to say the least. Kasey was looking for a location that was wild and rustic for her senior photos, and we found the perfect spot just outside of De Pere. I love the intense greens, endless fields, and soft line of trees at the nature preserve, and they were complimented nicely by Kasey’s blush dress and lace up boots.

We ended up with a great day – clouds covered the sky providing even light, and soft breezes were just enough to add movement to our photos. Congratulations, Kasey! Enjoy your senior year!

Seniors: greta, botanical gardens and de pere waterfront

I have always loved bold fashion choices. I may not have been savvy enough to figure out what I could (and could not) pull off when I was a senior in high school, but seniors like Greta already know exactly how to put an outfit together. When Greta showed up at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens in a yellow floral jumpsuit, I may have made the heart eyes emoji with my actual face. I love the vibrant color choice and it was a perfect fit for a summer evening (especially with those boho platforms!)

Greta is a senior at Green Bay East High School in the class of 2018. She is involved in soccer, cross-country, and yoga and loves art and painting. She spent the summer as a lifeguard and is currently thinking about a path in medicine for her future. We wish her the best of luck on all her future endeavors!

Seniors: luis, downtown green bay & voyageur park

Luis’s senior session was planned for the rainy month of July and needed to be rescheduled due to a storm that passed through. Happily, we ended up with a gorgeous afternoon with golden sun going down over the water and tree line at Voyageur Park on the De Pere waterfront. Before heading into De Pere, we spent time in downtown Green Bay capturing photos inspired by urban lines and architecture – something Luis plans to study in the future. There are so many we love from this session and we had a hard time narrowing them down for sharing! Enjoy your senior year, Luis!
