Fall Senior Portrait Photos in Green Bay

Fall Photos, Green Bay Abby is so cool. If I were in high school; I’d want to be her friend. She’s into art and photography, has a great sense of style, and plans on going to school for criminology. Beyond all that, she worked in a tattoo parlor for most of high school and even did some designs herself…see? Cool.

When we got together to plan for Abby’s session, I asked what they were thinking about for location or the mood of a location. At first they brought up a really common photography destination here in Green Bay and asked my opinion. I mentioned that it’s nice, but very popular, and they immediately asked what one of my favorite unpopular locations was. That’s how we ended up choosing our fall-centered location full of deep red sumac and drying mustard plants (you know, the things that make my photographer heart skip a beat!)

Fall had certainly arrived in time for Abby’s session; the colors were just starting to turn and the wind was picking up (although those dang mosquitos had yet to die — they happily rest in peace now). Fall light gives such a warmth to images. I love that golden light at golden hour; it doesn’t get much better than that. Congratulations on your senior year, Abby, and best wishes on all the great things your future holds!

Seymour WI Fall Family Session

When Ashley and Mike suggested their family’s property for a fall photo session, I had no idea how beautiful it would be. The land has been in the family for years and features a house (still kept in its original style), renovated barn, and many rows of trees, fence, and garden, all perfect for us to photograph. We know Matthew, Blake, and Ellie well, and Ben is all about wild, crazy play that gets kiddos to open up and be themselves during sessions. By the end of the afternoon, all three of them were chasing him in circles and trying to jump on his back (behind the scenes pictures may or may not need to be shared later, lol!) Needless to say, real play means real smiles. The afternoon was a little cool and drizzly, but we had the best time and still got to make great images together. See you next time {R} Family!

Portraits: fall family session at barkhausen waterfowl preserve, suamico, wisconsin

We were so happy to meet up with this family in early fall. It had been a few years since their last session and so much had changed. We walked the trails at Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve in Suamico and took portraits of Kayla, Mike, and Dezi. There was a lot of teasing and playing as well as noticing things in nature. Although we needed to duck out of some unexpected rain partway through the session, everyone was in good spirits, and the night ended with beautiful sunshine peeking out from behind the trees.

Seniors: karlie, downtown green bay & bairds creek

It’s no secret how much we love fall! This year, with the arrival of baby Juniper, I knew we were going to miss most of the gorgeous color and warm fall light. Lucky for us, we had a couple sessions right before our baby girl arrived, like this one with Karlie! Karlie’s session was one of our favorites because she chose two very different locations which gave us really different looks – downtown Green Bay was all about the modern lines and urban textures, and Bairds Creek was filtered light and natural spaces. I adored her outfit choices (I mean, plum suede boots? Yes please!) and we had a great time exploring different poses and expressions with her. Karlie is on the swim team and throws for Ashwaubenon High, so we ended the session with a few photos in her letter jacket with some of her sports paraphernalia. Enjoy your senior year, Karlie!

Weddings: kaitlyn & elijah at elizabeth ann seton parish and ki convention center, downtown green bay

The layer of water droplets on each surface brings out the vibrancy of the leaves and gives every surface a lustrous shine. Kaitlyn and Elijah chose a blush and navy color palette for their wedding which shook up the traditional fall colors. Her bouquet was layered in pale roses, hydrangeas, and greens with a tiny pin belonging to her grandmother tucked into the stems. Their small wedding party kept the day feeling intimate and the two tiny flower girls – twirling through in umbrellas – made things feel extra festive. After the ceremony at Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, we crossed the street to He Nis Ra Park to take in all the beautiful fall color. The Citydeck downtown was our final stop, and the muted sunset was the perfect backdrop for our last few photos before the reception. At the KI Convention Center, the ballroom space was lit with a ceiling of string lights and walls decked in colored up-lighting, with the finishing piece being the custom logo of their names projected onto the wall. The evening was full of surprises, dancing, and celebration. Congratulations, Kaitlyn and Elijah!

Seniors: kirsten, bairds creek & de pere preserve

I love the crisp air, the bright colors, the crunch of leaves underfoot – all of it. This fall arrived later than usual, which was perfect for photographers like us, because we got a chance to capture it well into November. Kirsten’s session was on a cool late October day and involved cute clothes, playing in leaves, and a few photos with her brother and sister. The entire session was relaxed as we chatted with Kirsten and her family, and she demonstrated a few tennis and soccer skills for us. Kirsten is down-to-earth and fun to be around. She participates in sports at school and enjoys water activities, being outside, and painting. We adored all the little session details and can’t wait to deliver their album and wall art. Congratulations! Enjoy your senior year, Kirsten!

Portraits: fall family session at home, hobart, wisconsin

The {H} Family’s session took place the last few days of October, and yet the leaves were still orange and red tones. When Sara suggested holding their biannual family photos at their home in Hobart, that seemed like a wonderful way to make the images more personal. It would be a familiar location for Sam and Ben, and also gave us the opportunity to photograph in front of meaningful spots, like the climbing vines Sara transplanted from her parents’ house. The day was temperate and overcast and we topped the session off with some lifestyle images of Sam and Ben playing basketball in the front yard. Images like that are perfect because they document exactly who the boys are right now and what they’re interested in.

Portraits: charlotte’s one year session, pamperin park, green bay

Nothing marks a year gone by more pointedly than a baby’s growth. In wonderful cases like Baby Charlotte, we’ve gotten to see them in between as they start to sit up, smile and interact. But when we see them at one year old, standing, laughing, and – in Charlotte’s case – running, it’s really incredible. Those tiny sleeping bundles grow up and we love seeing the new things they learn and the little people they’re growing into. Charlotte’s session was all fall fun, starting with mommy and daddy time and ending with balloons, pumpkins, and leaves. Her favorite things are songs, books, and teasing us by running the other way. Happy First Birthday. Charlotte!

Senior Session: paige, botanical gardens & downtown green bay

We meet fun people in cute clothes and spend the afternoon making beautiful images. Paige’s session at Green Bay Botanical Gardens and downtown Green Bay in the Broadway District was especially fun because she brought along her best friend, Hanna. The day was filled with warm fall light balanced by rough urban textures – a perfect combination for vibrant images. Paige is a student at Notre Dame High School where she is involved in sports and attends many school sporting events with friends. She is enjoying her senior year and looking forward to everything that comes after. Congratulations, Paige (Hanna too!)
