Portraits: summer family session on the green bay citydeck

As a kid growing up in Door County summertime was all about being near the water – bay, lake, or river – by boat, beach, or bridge, it didn’t matter, as long as there was water. When we started planning the {D} Family’s session, we imagined waterfront and planned outfits around cool, summer tones. Isaac and Deacon were in good spirits enjoying the beautiful weather, and fun interactions with mom and dad. Some days our work feels more like play, and this was one of those days.

Happy Birthday to little brother Deacon who just celebrated his one year milestone with a cake smash (with bow-tie and birthday hat) on the Green Bay Citydeck!

Portraits: green isle park spring maternity session, waiting for baby {j}

When Ashley and Jesse got married two years ago, we were there for their wedding day. We also had the privilege of taking their engagement photos that May in an orchard full of apple blossoms. This winter they’re celebrating a new milestone as they wait for their baby boy due next month.

When Ashley contacted me about her February session, we planned for a “winter wonderland” theme. Imagining layers of snow, and heavy branches in one of the coldest months, we were surprised as the date came closer and the forecast was in the mid-sixties. Wisconsin weather is always out to surprise us! The warm, sunny day was beautiful. Ice still coated the East River, but little buds were on the trees, and the creamy long grasses made for a beautiful spring backdrop. How perfect for the world to be in a season of renewal as Ashley and Jesse await their first baby.

Congratulations! We look forward to meeting him!

Engagements: cora & eric, winter cabin engagement

cabin-green-bay-winter-engagement-pictures-oneida-photographer-snow-wisconsin-woods-evergreens-plaid-1 cabin-green-bay-winter-engagement-pictures-oneida-photographer-snow-wisconsin-woods-evergreens-plaid-2I love changing seasons; it’s a distinct part of my personality. When it’s summer I want to be on a boat in the sun and when it’s winter I want to be snuggled with hot cocoa. This love for the changing seasons influences our photography, and all it takes is a quick scroll through our Instagram feed to see the crisp blues and warm sunset pinks of summer shift to the bright oranges and rich crimsons of fall, and then to the evergreens and creamy tones that color the world before the winter snow settles over them.

Cora contacted us from Madison to set up the session for their short visit to Green Bay. Eric was living in Colorado (where they would soon be settled together) and we found the perfect date that fit all our schedules. Cora and I brainstormed a few ideas to fit the rustic, woodsy look they were going for, and we settled on a spot with log cabins and pine trees. Since winter engagement sessions are all about the cozy factor, we even brought along a little hot chocolate to add to the wool blanket winter snuggles. Cora and Eric were so natural in front of the camera and just happy to be together. Congratulations, Cora and Eric! Looking forward to your wedding day!

Portraits: charlotte’s one year session, pamperin park, green bay

fall-family-pictures-pamperin-park-green-bay-child-one-year-outdoors-lifestyle-leaves-colorful-photos-1 fall-family-pictures-pamperin-park-green-bay-child-one-year-outdoors-lifestyle-leaves-colorful-photos-2When newborns we photograph come back for their one year milestone, I am always amazed by how much can change in a single year. Nothing marks a year gone by more pointedly than a baby’s growth. In wonderful cases like Baby Charlotte, we’ve gotten to see them in between as they start to sit up, smile and interact. But when we see them at one year old, standing, laughing, and – in Charlotte’s case – running, it’s really incredible. Those tiny sleeping bundles grow up and we love seeing the new things they learn and the little people they’re growing into. Charlotte’s session was all fall fun, starting with mommy and daddy time and ending with balloons, pumpkins, and leaves. Her favorite things are songs, books, and teasing us by running the other way. Happy First Birthday. Charlotte!

Senior Session: tanner, citydeck & downtown green bay

He is smart, easygoing, and a natural in front of the camera. We spent his session wandering downtown Green Bay and along the Fox River waterfront. I love the rich textures of the city: brick, iron, boardwalk, and I enjoy getting to know seniors like Tanner and everything that they’re planning for their respective futures. Tanner is still deciding between colleges (although if his sister has anything to say about it, he will join the family at UW-Oshkosh). Either way, one thing is for sure, Tanner has a bright future in front of him. Congratulations and enjoy your senior year, Tanner!

Portraits: welcome baby jocelyn, newborn photos

Green-Bay-Newborn-Baby-Photos-Indoors-Studio-Door-County-Flowers-GirlAshley and Scott were blessed with their first baby in April: little Jocelyn Elaine. At one week new for her session, she was sleepy and snuggly and happiest in mommy and daddy’s arms. She did a wonderful job, and settled peacefully into every pose we tried. As a spring baby, we decided to do a special photo involving fresh flowers – lilies and tulips – that would remind her family of this very special time she arrived.

Congratulations to Ashley and Scott and all the family whose lives Jocelyn has already touched. Lots of well wishes for a wonderful baptism on Sunday!

Portraits: charlotte’s sitting session, green bay, wisconsin

Green-Bay-Family-Photos-Indoors-Studo-Baby-Photographer-Infant-Six-MonthsMost of the time we consider ourselves outdoor photographers, but here in Wisconsin weather can be unpredictable when it comes to photographing little ones. We decided to hold Charlotte’s sitting milestone session indoors with light, springy colors inspired by April (and that completely adorable kitty dress!) It’s always amazing to me what a different experience it is from photographing newborns at a few weeks old and having them return at six months. The last time we saw Charlotte she was a sleepy, squishy bundle, and now she is smiling, interactive, very observant, and of course, mobile. Sitting sessions are one of my favorites because of all these changes and the amount of personality that can come through in the images. We can’t wait to see how much she changes by the time one year photos roll around!

Portraits: welcome baby vicent, newborn photos

Green-Bay-Newborn-Baby-Photos-Family-Boy-Natural-Neutral-Studio-CuteIf you’re like me, the chilly days that have settled in this past week have made you feel the need to get extra cozy. I’ve been thinking about heavy quilts, good books, and strong cups of coffee. And if those things don’t quite warm you up, how about a new baby boy born just before Christmas day, swaddled in fur and his mama’s arms?

Baby Vicent was born December 20th, to Tiffany and Carlos. He was ten days new for his first photos with us.  He did such a good job and slept through his entire session, just waking to eat.  Baby Vicent is surrounded by so much love by all his family here in the state and by his other half of the family in Spain who can’t wait to meet him. In the meantime, we’re so glad that they’ll have these early photos of this tiny boy to remember how small he was as he grows bigger. Congratulations to entire family!
