Weddings: stephanie & cory, southern door church wedding

When I first met with Stephanie and her sister over drinks to chat about she and her fiancé’s wedding day, I had no idea the connection they had to the Brussels area or Southern Door School (my grade school alma mater). As we chatted about details and her fiancé, Cory, I started to piece things together and realized I knew exactly whose wedding this was, and was all the more excited about their special day! Cory and Stephanie are an incredible couple. They are both smart, determined, and down-to-earth. They care not just about what is best for themselves and each other, but what is best for the people around them and their community. Anyone who knows them well realizes how lucky them are to call them friends.

Stephanie and Cory got married at our favorite little Catholic church in Brussels and held their reception at Rock Gardens in Green Bay. We stopped along the way for pictures at Sugar Creek looking out over the bay (so gorgeous!) and Green Bay Botanical Gardens for photos of just the two of them. The wedding details were stunning, her dress was timeless, and the guests really brought the party when it came to the dance floor (choreographed bridal party dance, anyone??) But the best part of their wedding day was when they were announced as husband and wife at the end of the ceremony. This is always a special moment to witness as the bride and groom turn toward their guests glowing with pride, but it was even more intense with this couple. As Stephanie and Cory turned toward their friends and family, big smiles across their faces, their guests erupted with applause and cheers. I have never heard a celebration like that; it was as if everyone in that tiny church was feeling that moment right along with them.

We were so happy to be a part of this special day! Big congratulations to Stephanie and Cory!

Weddings: laura & nick, sepia chapel and tundra lodge, green bay, wi

Laura and Nick said their “I-dos” at Sepia Chapel in Green Bay with a reception to follow at Tundra Lodge. After a summer of squeltering wedding days, Laura and Nick’s day had the perfect weather, cool and sunny, and everyone was beyond excited to celebrate with them! The colors were purple and charcoal with hints of rustic details including pinecones, burlap, wood slices, and wooden flowers in Laura’s bouquet. Their cake was topped with a family heirloom gifted to Laura by her grandmother before she passed.

We love both venues the couple chose. Sepia chapel is warm and neutral; the symmetry and natural light make for great photos and the guest experience is always impressive. Tundra Lodge is always on schedule and we love the bright, low ceilings, and dramatic chandeliers. We also want to thank The Woods Golf Course for taking us around in golf carts and seeking out beautiful places for us to photograph (silly golf cart racing photos will have to wait to be shared another day, lol!) Congratulations to Laura and Nick, and their three adorable boys who added even more joy (and some wicked dance moves) to the special day!

Weddings: miranda & kyle, simply country barn, freedom, wisconsin

To say we were blown away by Miranda and Kyle’s wedding would be an understatement. Simply Country Barn in Freedom is a gorgeous venue with high, open-structured ceilings, and rustic-elegant details. The wedding featured baby’s breath, greens, and pinecones, as well as antlers the couple collected while shed hunting. The afternoon was hot but the couple and their wedding party remained in good spirits. We photographed all around the venue, at the little bridal cabin, in the evergreens, and even made a special post-dinner trip outside for golden hour – our favorite! Congratulations, Miranda and Kyle; we wish you many years of happiness!

Weddings: brittany & tim, green bay community church and riverside ballroom, green bay

Brittany and Tim had a long road leading up to their wedding day. After an incredibly romantic courtship and proposal, they faced medical issues and the loss of loved ones, and we could read in their hearts how much they looked forward to their wedding day as not only a symbol of their love, but also the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. Brittany and Tim are deeply caring and always thinking of others, and so it came as no surprise that their wedding was filled wall to wall with friends and family ready to celebrate their wedding day.

After the couple got ready, Brittany had a first look with her grandfather and father-in-law, followed by a prayer circle with her bridesmaids. The ceremony was held at Green Bay Community Church with picture stops at Lambeau Field and Pamperin Park before arriving at their reception at Riverside Ballroom in downtown Green Bay. The entire day was filled with personal touches with every detail planned to match the theme. It was a beautiful day with two wonderful people. Congratulations, Brittany and Tim!

Weddings: lauren & zach, meyer theatre and tundra lodge, green bay

The moment we met Lauren and Zach we knew we wanted to be a part of their wedding. They are interesting, down to earth, and fun to be around. They love dogs, music, bourbon, and the outdoors. Lauren and Zach’s wedding was such a blast for us because it was a creative challenge. The intimate Meyer Theatre ceremony meant we got to play with the drama of stage lighting; afterwards we photographed in the center of the theatre with dramatic flash and backlighting, and from there we went downtown into full sun on Washington Street, the Citydeck, and Lambeau Field. It was like photographing three short weddings in one and we are SO excited about the results!

Their reception was held at Tundra Lodge and was full of excitement with a dessert bar (including a Wisconsin Badgers cake, Lauren’s pride and joy), and dueling pianos for entertainment. They set the stage, and their guests brought the party. The dance floor was never empty and Lauren and Zach were always front and center. Congratulations, Lauren and Zach! It was our pleasure to be a part of your special day!

Weddings: cora & eric, olde 41 vandervest, green bay

Cora and Eric’s wedding is one that I have just been bursting at the seams to share! We loved everything about it – the soft lavender bridal gowns, outdoor ceremony along Duck Creek, and all the little details (like the succulent takeaway gifts!) From the moment we arrived that morning it was clear how much time and heart Cora and Eric put into planning their wedding day.

Both the ceremony and reception were held at Olde 41 and after a handful of pictures the bridesmaids were back inside watching guests and groomsmen arrive from the windows. After some last minute moments with mom and a beautiful ceremony, the bridal party packed into the trolly and headed for Lambeau Field. Our favorite photos were taken back at Vandervest as the golden fall light passed across the creek. Cora and Eric are so sweet together and we loved capturing how they care for one another. Congratulations, Cora and Eric! Cheers to a lifetime of happiness!

Weddings: sarah & curtis, chateau de pere first look & backyard wedding, de pere wisconsin

Sarah and Curtis planned their backyard wedding all the way from Fountain, Colorado, and still every detail was attended to. The couple got ready at Chateau De Pere, and their first look to place on the docks of the riverwalk. The day was warm and sunny, and they could not have looked any happier to see one another. Sarah’s hair was pulled back in a classic bun with tiny pearl details and an elbow length veil, which gave a midcentury modern look to her knee-length dress. The wedding ceremony was held in in the afternoon in her parents backyard with a view of the Fox River, and was officiated by Curtis’s brother. The entire day had personal touches like these, and it made for an intimate celebration that was all about family and togetherness.

As dinner was winding down, the sky outside the tent began to darken a bit. No sooner had the sides been put up along the tent, and we were in a full blown thunderstorm. Guests enjoyed their yummy dessert protected from the rain, but as strong winds threatened the tent, everyone quickly made their way indoors. Breathless and smiling, Sarah and Curtis were laughing as their family handed out towels to dry off their damp guests. It was the perfect day that ended in the most memorable night! Congratulations, Sarah and Curtis!

Weddings: dana & lucas, nativity of our lord parish, green bay

On June 17th, Dana and Lucas said their “I-dos” at Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Green Bay. We have had the pleasure of photographing this couple when they were dating, once they became engaged, and now, celebrating with them on their wedding day! The morning of their ceremony followed heavy rain, but the day cleared up and the sun shone. As we were outdoors taking group portraits at Meadowbrook Park, we heard a distant whistle. Assuming it was nothing, we continued portraits before loading everyone up for our next location. At the reception we would find out it was a tornado siren from the town over! With such a beautiful, sunny day, none of us imagined there was a storm so nearby.

After some rustic photos with the bay in the background, everyone headed to Dana and Lucas’s reception at Rock Gardens. The night included thoughtful toasts and lots of dancing. The wedding was styled impeccably with simple, gray bridesmaids dresses, bouquets of peonies and succulents, and Dana’s gorgeous trumpet gown, beaded from top to bottom. So many pretty things to point our cameras at! Congratulations, Dana and Lucas!

Weddings: kara & andy at st. lawrence church and devils river campground, denmark, and the ravine, green bay

Kara and Andy tied the knot last month at their home church in Denmark surrounded by friends and family. The day was beautiful and springlike, accented even further by Kara’s choice of hydrangeas and mint blue dresses.

The couple met in the same town nearly four years ago at a nearby bar, Basil’s, where Andy was attending a bachelor party and Kara was enjoying a night out with friends. Their relationship grew from there with similar interests in music, sports, and drinks. On May 21st, 2016 Andy proposed near Lambeau Field and they started planning their special day.

We loved their intimate catholic church in Denmark, and their choice of the rustic cabin location at Devils River Campground. The bridal party was in good spirits, and their little mascot, Reed, was there to celebrate just as much as the “big guys”. Congratulations to the happy couple, and cheers to many years together!

Engagements: chris & carly, proposal at st. norbert college

Back in March Chris contacted us to photograph his surprise proposal to Carly. After chatting with him, we realized how much of a surprise it was! The couple lives in the Chicago area, but Chris was planning a girls’ weekend with Carly’s friends to get her up to Green Bay without being aware of his secret plans.

Chris and Carly began dating at the beginning of their freshman year at St. Norbert College in De Pere, so even though they now live out of state, proposing to her in the place where it all began was important to him. The date fast approached and Chris was able to coordinate all the many people who were to be a part of the surprise. As Carly and her friend walked along the Fox River, they turned the corner by the St. Norbert docks to see Chris waiting waiting at the bench where the two of them started dating. In his arms he held three dozen roses, and as she approached, he knelt down and asked her to marry him.

As Ben and I hid behind buildings capturing the moment, both their families came from across campus, running down the hill to greet them and spend the weekend in celebration. Even with the chilly, cloudy weather, Carly slipped out of her jacket for a little mini engagement session on the beautiful campus where it all began. Congratulations, Chris and Carly!
