St. Johns, Botanical Gardens, and Hinterland Brewery Wedding in Green Bay, WI

When they began planning, the two most important priorities for them were to get married in their home church and invite only their closest friends and family.

Green Bay Botanical Gardens Wedding

The ceremony was beautiful and intimate at St. John’s in Bonduel, Wisconsin. We stopped by Green Bay Botanical Gardens for portraits and had the most beautiful sunny day to roam around. As the couple had no bridal party, it was a relaxing and connecting time for just the two of them.

Hinterland Brewery Wedding, Green Bay

The reception was held in the upper level of Hinterland Brewery with hot hors d’oeuvres, taco bar, and artisan desserts. The mood was lively and joyful and just a fun evening for family and friends to celebrate with the couple. They even gifted their guests bottles of microbrews to take home with custom bottle openers. Such a cute touch! Congratulations, Ashley and Kyle!

Small Wedding at Simply Country Barn

Simply Country Barn Freedom, WI PhotographerWhen Connie and David began planning their wedding, they knew what was most important to them. The day was about family, plain and simple. It was about celebrating two people who found one another, and enjoying it with the closest friends and family who had been with them along the way. The result was a wedding that felt intimate and full of joy.

Badger State Brewery and Green Bay Church Wedding

Green Bay Wedding Photographers Kasey and Ben Photography Green Bay Wedding PhotographerDowntown Green Bay PhotographerGreen Bay PhotographerMallorie and Chris’s wedding was the perfect day. It was the most beautiful weather, the most fun bridal party, and the sweetest couple. Add in visits to two of Green Bay’s best breweries as the icing on the cake! Mallorie and Chris met at a mutual friend’s retirement party in downtown Green Bay three years ago. Fast forward to today where they love being outdoors, traveling, camping, running, and spending time with their little girl, Remi Claire. They both clearly know how lucky they are to have found one another, and there is nothing more beautiful than seeing a couple whose love is matched by their gratitude.

Badger State Brewery Wedding

Mallorie and Chris got married at St. Matthews church with a reception at Badger State Brewery in Green Bay. Along the way we stopped downtown for photos at the pop-up park on Broadway and candids at the Titletown RoofTap bar by Titletown Brewing Company. During photos, clouds covered the sky creating bright, lovely, even light — perfect for pictures — and as we reached the bar, the rain came down in sheets which somehow added to the celebration!

We loved being a part of this great day with wonderful people! Happy (almost) three months to Mallorie and Chris!

Bri & Patrick’s Green Bay Courthouse Elopement

Green Bay Wedding Photographers Green Bay ElopementGreen Bay Elopement PhotographerWhen Briana and Patrick began to plan their wedding, they realized that they didn’t want a big ceremony with hundreds of guests. With family spread across the U.S., it didn’t make sense to gather them together and try to plan travel dates. What they wanted was to start their marriage in a way that felt simple and true to who they are as a couple.

Green Bay Courthouse Wedding

Briana and Patrick got married on a Thursday at the Brown County Courthouse in downtown Green Bay. Patrick’s mother and sister were in attendance and signed as witnesses to their wedding. The ceremony was short and sweet, and afterwards we made use of the gorgeous courthouse interiors with dramatic stairs and murals as great backgrounds. We popped outside for some photos of them exiting the courthouse and romantic couples’ photos.

As we wrapped up, the sky got dark and the temperature dropped as a big storm headed our way. Briana and Patrick ducked into their car just before the rain came down in sheets. If rain on your wedding day is lucky, these two will be very fortunate! Congratulations, Briana and Patrick! Thanks for sharing your day with us!

1920s Styled Wedding at Hotel Northland, Green Bay, Wisconsin

Green Bay Wedding Photographer Hotel Northland Wedding Photography Green Bay, Wisconsin Wedding Photographer Hotel Northland Wedding, Green BayStyled weddings are a great way to explore new venues and push the boundaries of wedding trends in the area. They give us the opportunity to sharpen our skills, try out ideas, and collaborate with talented vendors who can build a vision into reality. I’ve been closely following Hotel Northland’s renovation for years, and as an “old soul” with a soft spot for 1920s architecture (we live in a 1924 American Four Square home if you don’t already know), Hotel Northland is a dream wedding venue right here in the heart of downtown Green Bay.

Hotel Northland Wedding

This spring I reached out to Elizabeth who is the event coordinator at Hotel Northland and she was happy to show us around and help make plans for the shoot. Lucky for us, our wedding industry friends here in Green Bay loved our vision for a clean-cut, 1920s inspired wedding in shades of blue and were excited to collaborate. Erika’s bridal had a gown that was not only a perfect fit for the theme, but also a perfect fit for the model, DuBois had a brand new super-slim tux in blue which fit our color story perfectly, Nichole at Petal Pusher created a gorgeous bouquet and an architectural flower crown, Monzu constructed a gorgeous art nouveau cake, Alyssa loaned us an emerald cut ring that is a great fit for the era, and Caroline at Mint completed our vision (as though she were inside my head) like she always does. Toss in a few vintage books and coupe champagne glasses, and we were in business!

Green Bay Wedding Photographers

In our original plan for this shoot we were seeking a bride model with darker features (I always love dark hair with a white dress) but after seeing Emily and Luke’s email come through, we were hopelessly in love with them and knew they would be our couple. Contrary to most styled sessions, we always choose real life couples because I like the natural intimacy. Luke and Emily had a whirlwind romance, loved the 1920s, and were just so cute and in love. We immediately emailed Katie at Erika’s Bridal with our model’s measurements, and through some kind of magic, she had the dress we had already chosen in the perfect size. I love when things align that way.

1920s Gatsby Wedding

This styled wedding at Hotel Northland opened us up to play with a lot of concepts we have been toying with, allowed us to work with vendors we love, and let us explore every square inch of this historic hotel in downtown Green Bay. We are truly blessed to do what we do, the way we love to do it.

Weddings: miranda & kyle, simply country barn, freedom, wisconsin

To say we were blown away by Miranda and Kyle’s wedding would be an understatement. Simply Country Barn in Freedom is a gorgeous venue with high, open-structured ceilings, and rustic-elegant details. The wedding featured baby’s breath, greens, and pinecones, as well as antlers the couple collected while shed hunting. The afternoon was hot but the couple and their wedding party remained in good spirits. We photographed all around the venue, at the little bridal cabin, in the evergreens, and even made a special post-dinner trip outside for golden hour – our favorite! Congratulations, Miranda and Kyle; we wish you many years of happiness!

Weddings: brittany & tim, green bay community church and riverside ballroom, green bay

Brittany and Tim had a long road leading up to their wedding day. After an incredibly romantic courtship and proposal, they faced medical issues and the loss of loved ones, and we could read in their hearts how much they looked forward to their wedding day as not only a symbol of their love, but also the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. Brittany and Tim are deeply caring and always thinking of others, and so it came as no surprise that their wedding was filled wall to wall with friends and family ready to celebrate their wedding day.

After the couple got ready, Brittany had a first look with her grandfather and father-in-law, followed by a prayer circle with her bridesmaids. The ceremony was held at Green Bay Community Church with picture stops at Lambeau Field and Pamperin Park before arriving at their reception at Riverside Ballroom in downtown Green Bay. The entire day was filled with personal touches with every detail planned to match the theme. It was a beautiful day with two wonderful people. Congratulations, Brittany and Tim!

Weddings: cora & eric, olde 41 vandervest, green bay

Cora and Eric’s wedding is one that I have just been bursting at the seams to share! We loved everything about it – the soft lavender bridal gowns, outdoor ceremony along Duck Creek, and all the little details (like the succulent takeaway gifts!) From the moment we arrived that morning it was clear how much time and heart Cora and Eric put into planning their wedding day.

Both the ceremony and reception were held at Olde 41 and after a handful of pictures the bridesmaids were back inside watching guests and groomsmen arrive from the windows. After some last minute moments with mom and a beautiful ceremony, the bridal party packed into the trolly and headed for Lambeau Field. Our favorite photos were taken back at Vandervest as the golden fall light passed across the creek. Cora and Eric are so sweet together and we loved capturing how they care for one another. Congratulations, Cora and Eric! Cheers to a lifetime of happiness!

Weddings: kara & andy at st. lawrence church and devils river campground, denmark, and the ravine, green bay

Kara and Andy tied the knot last month at their home church in Denmark surrounded by friends and family. The day was beautiful and springlike, accented even further by Kara’s choice of hydrangeas and mint blue dresses.

The couple met in the same town nearly four years ago at a nearby bar, Basil’s, where Andy was attending a bachelor party and Kara was enjoying a night out with friends. Their relationship grew from there with similar interests in music, sports, and drinks. On May 21st, 2016 Andy proposed near Lambeau Field and they started planning their special day.

We loved their intimate catholic church in Denmark, and their choice of the rustic cabin location at Devils River Campground. The bridal party was in good spirits, and their little mascot, Reed, was there to celebrate just as much as the “big guys”. Congratulations to the happy couple, and cheers to many years together!

Why Your Groom Needs Portraits Too

Green-Bay-Mens-Photography-Groom-Wedding-Photographer-De-Pere-Appleton-Pulaski-Tundra-Lodge-Gather-On-Broadway-Barn-1 Green-Bay-Mens-Photography-Groom-Wedding-Photographer-De-Pere-Appleton-Pulaski-Tundra-Lodge-Gather-On-Broadway-Barn-2Post By Ben:

Sometimes in the whirlwind of wedding planning, it’s easy for grooms to get overlooked. There are so many customs that revolve around just the bride and her family, that a modern couple may need to look past tradition to create a wedding day that speaks to both of them. This is exactly the case when it comes to photography.

Bridal portraits have been a southern tradition for decades, but it’s rare to see portraits of a man on his wedding day. The reason for both sets of images is the same and equally important. While couples’ portraits are about the wedding day itself, individual portraits are a physical memory of how your spouse will always see you.  Your individuality is the thing that attracted your partner when you first met, and that doesn’t go away with marriage. Thirty, forty, fifty anniversaries from now, these images will be a reminder of the person you married and how you felt about them that day.

And guys, I get it, it can be hard to be in front of the camera. Although we can be less vocal about our insecurities, we have them. Instead of thinking of this as “another thing you need to do”, think about it as a pause before the ceremony – a little time to yourself away from the chaos of guests. When you have a moment to take a breath, you can open up to the joy and nervousness, and we get to capture real images of you.

For the men underestimating their ability to look great in front of the camera, I am ready to show you otherwise. For the brides missing these images of their husbands before the ceremony, I am ready to share them with you. When the day is done, and the memories feel like a quick flash, the photographs will be there – simple reflections of the person your spouse knows you to be.
