Engagements: cora & eric, winter cabin engagement

When it’s summer I want to be on a boat in the sun and when it’s winter I want to be snuggled with hot cocoa. This love for the changing seasons influences our photography, and all it takes is a quick scroll through our Instagram feed to see the crisp blues and warm sunset pinks of summer shift to the bright oranges and rich crimsons of fall, and then to the evergreens and creamy tones that color the world before the winter snow settles over them.

Cora contacted us from Madison to set up the session for their short visit to Green Bay. Eric was living in Colorado (where they would soon be settled together) and we found the perfect date that fit all our schedules. Cora and I brainstormed a few ideas to fit the rustic, woodsy look they were going for, and we settled on a spot with log cabins and pine trees. Since winter engagement sessions are all about the cozy factor, we even brought along a little hot chocolate to add to the wool blanket winter snuggles. Cora and Eric were so natural in front of the camera and just happy to be together. Congratulations, Cora and Eric! Looking forward to your wedding day!

They traveled in the same groups of friends, worked side-by-side, and saw the absolute best and worst days. Their relationship was built before one tried to impress the other, before silly “dating games” took hold, and because of that, it came from a place of understanding and honesty. Last year Matt surprised Chelsea with a photography session at her family’s cabin as a gift, but as the session came around this summer, it became more than just a “couples session”. The turn-of-the-century cabin is in the Crivitz area and sits on beautiful Wonder Lake, far into the woods.  As the session ended on a hot July afternoon and the canoe was being pulled ashore, Matt got down on one knee right there in the lake and asked Chelsea to marry him. She said yes, and we couldn’t have been happier to be there to capture such an important milestone at a place they love best. Congratulations, Chelsea and Matt!

When Leah suggested an engagement session at the Symco Shakedown event grounds, I was clueless as to what this meant, and after a little research, I couldn’t believe I had never heard of it!  For Ben and I, collectors of everything vintage, owners of seven vehicles that ride on two wheels, it was totally absurd that we had never heard of Symco Shakedown.

Unionville, where the session took place, is like a mini vintage town, complete with a barber, blacksmith and general store.  This location was perfect for Leah and Cody who love the classic allure of everything retro and are planning their 1950s-themed wedding (complete with records and red shoes!) for this October.  We had such a blast with their styled engagement session and even got to involve my bright teal bicycle in a few shots.  We love it when couples get creative and show their personalities! Congratulations, Leah and Cody!
