Door County Family Photographers

Years ago I photographed Kim’s family as her oldest daughter turned a senior. The family is not from the area, but they travel to Door County for family get-togethers often. Just as her daughter wanted to document her family session at a place close to her heart, she had a similar idea for their extended family photos.

We all know how hard it is to gather your family together. It’s one of the trickiest parts about scheduling extended family photos with grandparents, siblings, and cousins. So when Kim contacted me knowing her family would be on vacation in Fish Creek for the week, it just made sense! She wanted to do these photos as a surprise for her parents — a set of images of the entire family, all who live far apart, even bringing the girls home who were away at college.

Extended Family Photos

For me, if you’re already gathering everyone together, coordinating outfits, hiring a photographer, it just makes sense to take a full course of images during your session. This means we did whole group photos (some with partners/boyfriends in and some out), sibling photos, cousin photos, individual families, even couples and updated headshots. The location we chose was Pebble Beach in Sister Bay which is a great location for simple golden hour photos along the water with pine trees in the background.

Grandma and Grandpa were so thrilled to have these images for years to come and everyone kept saying how glad they were that they finally did this session they’d been thinking about for years. We were just excited to be a part of it!
