Years ago Elyse and Kyle were one of the first winter weddings we ever photographed. It was everything I dreamed of: the freshly fallen snow, the fur wrap, the white ball-gown, and a couple so deeply in love that we knew it was going to last. Here they are, some years and two kids later, celebrating Elyse’s parents anniversary and gathering all the extended family together for a photo session.
Large Group Extended Family Photos
I know what a hassle it is to plan an extended family session (I’ve coordinated one for my own family). There are schedules to line up, outfits to plan, information to relay. Add a handful of toddlers, and the stress level rises. It’s hard…but we do it because we know how valuable it is. It is images like these, with family gathered together at a special location, that preserves memories. And those rough edges that come with planning can be a bit softened through good planning (that’s what our consultations are for), easy-to-pass-on information that gets everyone on the same page (that’s what our clothing guide is for), and someone at the session to make everything fun for the kiddos (that’s what Ben is for!)
Door County Family Photographer
There are still schedules to coordinate and snacks to pack, but when grandma has that canvas on her wall of all the people she loves best, those little inconveniences won’t even register in your memory.
This session was so fun for us. These kiddos were a riot and everyone in the family was so wonderful and patient. Just being together put them in the highest spirits! We are happy to make images that matter so much in telling a family’s history, and even happier to see the canvas arrive and know how very much it will be loved.
