I met Karen at Peninsula School of Art where I teach photography classes. She was one of my students years ago and I’ve seen her on and off again for new classes over the years when she can make it back in town from her home in Illinois. Last fall I was teaching a night photography class in Door County and she emailed me to say that she hoped we could do some updated headshots while we were both in town. I was thrilled to take these for Karen as I knew it could be the next big step for her professionally as she built her website and grew her brand.
Door County Professional Headshots
For her session we decided to go to Peninsula State Park, taking photos near Welkers Point along the rocky shoreline, then near the nature center in a grove of evergreens and a tall field that had just received the first dusting of November snow. Her simple, classic outfit choices were a perfect match for the session energy, and I love that the session aesthetic gives a strong sense of who Karen is and the work she creates.
Destination Door County
Karen is a fine art photographer, working heavily in black and white and with places and objects that are filled with nostalgia. Her photos have a lot of attention to light and texture that has the ability to speak more about the subject. She is also a book editor and enthusiast, and I cannot wait to see the way these two great loves intersect!
