We’ve been photographing Megan and her family for years and it’s always such a joy! We have done woodsy log cabin photos and dreamy apple blossom photos, but this session is definitely a personal favorite of mine.

Door County Beach Photos

The best sessions show not only what your family looks like, but what they feel like, and this is exactly how Megan and her boys feel. I love the energy of the waves, water splashing everywhere, the bare toes in the sand, her dress caught in the wind. These boys are just as fast as my shutter speed and I love that this session captures their fleeting expressions and the big play that comes with big brother as instigator and little brother always trying to keep up.

Lifestyle Family Photos, Door County

We started photos in the cedar trees along the little boardwalk and made our way around the corner to capture beach grass and sand dunes as the wind started to calm down just before sunset. The lakeside in Door County is often overlooked because it doesn’t get a true “sunset” like the bayside but the soft, warm light is just as pretty for photos and captures the reflectiveness of wet sand and tonal changes of the trees and grass in a way that is lovely. If you’re willing to chance the wind; you get to play in the waves… and there’s nothing quite like a session that slowly releases control from posed smiles into jumping in feet first (literally).
