Parallel 44 Winery Elopement

Leslie and Lucas began planning their wedding in July, and only three short months later, they were married. Leslie’s daughter, Sydney, is a resident at a hospital on the east coast, which means crazy hours and very little time off. So when the planning started and they found a date that aligned with her schedule, they jumped at it.

Leslie and Lucas’s wedding was simple, just a handful of close friends and family, but luxurious in feeling. They held the ceremony at Parallel 44 Winery in Kewaunee with charcuterie and wine inside, and followed that with pictures at Hotel Northland and a big dinner at Republic Chophouse in Green Bay. It’s the perfect reminder that small weddings can sometimes mean the BEST of everything: good food, great clothing, and only your absolute most favorite people on the planet.

After lining up details and plans, and imagining a ceremony overlooking the vineyard, the weather forecast changed, predicting a chance of rain. A few days out that chance of rain when from small to 50% to 100%. We talked about it and made plans for what we would do in the rain, and I assured the couple that even when it is a day with 100% rain, that doesn’t mean rain the entire day and we would be flexible to get out when the rain took breaks and come up with spaces with great light to photograph in when it was raining.

Unfortunately that afternoon we were met with buckets of rain with no break whatsoever. Parallel 44 moved the ceremony under the stucco arches along their building, we suited up with rain gear for ourselves and our cameras, and made plans to shuttle the couple and their families under a nearby pergola to capture photos with the rolling vineyard in the back. This made for a funny scene of us posing them in the dry space as we ran out into the downpour to actually snap the photos.

After the ceremony and portraits, we stopped at Hotel Northland for a few more family photos and to allow them to check into their room. Out front we took advantage of the overhanging neon sign for some extra end of night drama to add to their wedding gallery. Leslie and Lucas braved the rain with us and we are so excited we got to make these rainy day wedding photos!
