When Scott called to talk about his proposal to Amanda, he already sounded excited. He had chosen a location, purchased the ring, reserved flowers, engraved champagne glasses, and let a few relatives into the loop to help him pull it off. Honestly, we were impressed. Next up on the to-do list: photographer.
Dave’s Falls Waterfall Proposal
Scott had already scouted the location and knew exactly where he would ask Amanda and had a spot picked for us across the river. On the day of the proposal, the sun was shining and the waterfall was running full force. Scott’s sister-in-law helped us get situated (me across the water for wider photos and Ben tucked into the woods for close-ups).
We got the text alert that they were at the trailhead and we all crouched in position watching them cross the bridge and walk down to spot Scott had chosen. Our hearts were racing with the anticipation of the moment she discovered the area he had set up ringed in candles and flowers. Amanda, expecting just a little hike after a lunch date, was taken completely off guard. She said yes and soon she was drinking champagne with a new ring on her finger.
Northern Wisconsin Engagement Photographer
When we went up to congratulate them and start their engagement session, Amanda was shaking and kept asking “Did that really happen?” This elated shock is my favorite thing about true surprises. Scott loved sharing all his secrets, the planning calls he made from her work office in a hushed voice, the things he did to throw her off the scent, and all the people in her family who already knew and were just waiting for her call. The surprise felt even bigger than the two of them.
Scott and Amanda met five years ago at UW-Madison, and between jobs and school, have been doing their relationship long distance for awhile. As school wraps up in June and they look to the future, they now know what comes next: a wedding. Congratulations to you both!
