Katrina and Patrick had the fall wedding weather October couples dream of. It was warm and sunny, with that gorgeous early golden hour, and just the start of the crisp fall air and color change. When I first met the couple to start planning for their wedding photography coverage, we sat down together at a little coffee shop in Sheboygan. Completely by chance both Katrina and I ordered hot apple cider and laughed about what a very specific seasonal drink it was to choose. Both she and I are “fall people” and it made it so easy to completely understand her wedding day vision, modeled around all the cozy feelings of autumn.

As their wedding day rolled around, Katrina and her friends got ready at a little airbnb across from a park near the venue. After getting ready, Katrina and Patrick shared a first look around the old mill along the river at Wade House in Sheboygan. They held hands and talked briefly, then rounded the corner, immediately pulling into a hug and kiss. It was such a sweet moment.

The ceremony was held on the lawn outside the main building at Wade House with their son, Alfie, walking down the aisle with his little push cart. Katrina’s cathedral veil was taken in the breeze, spreading over her father’s shoulders and across the aisle like a little kite as she walked toward the barn-wood arch. The ceremony was very sweet and personalized to them, with friends and family coming forward to share readings and help them assemble a unity art piece.
After the ceremony we explored the grounds at Wade House where there were chickens rooming, beautiful old buildings and fences, and ancient old growth trees. All of these made wonderful backgrounds for their wedding photography! I found myself torn over whether I liked the classic white house (truly Wade House) or the old mill along the river better. As always, that fall light stole the show with beautiful sun-flares as it set over the rolling hills.

The reception was held at the local union hall where Patrick is a member. Their DJ did a dry ice first dance which resulted in billowy clouds all around them. Dinner included a champagne toast and a caramel apple sundae bar, the perfect treat for fall!
