It always starts with an idea. Sort of a “what if I could…” question, followed quickly by the struggle with doubt that all creative types will be familiar with. I’ve learned over the years (a hard lesson for us introverts) to trust my ideas and share them with others, and every time I do, it leads to something new and wonderful.
Boho Barn Wedding, Green Bay, Wisconsin
I met Jane at a Rising Tide Society meeting here in Green Bay, and she was sharing about a new barn space that she and her husband were in the process of renovating in Pulaski. Before I had even seen it, I knew from her passionate descriptions that the space would fit my idea of beauty: eclectic, authentic, and layered with history. We organized a styled shoot at the barnsite and found the two best models we could ask for, Andrea and Tre, (just weeks away from their own wedding!) Â When it came to choosing vendors, I wanted the absolute best and we set the bar high. I approached each one with my idea, and to my great joy, all of them were as interested and excited as myself.
Dip-Dyed Wedding Gown, Minkmaids, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Amanda from Minkmaids, a bespoke bridal design studio in Milwaukee, had just finished a new collection of gowns and we headed down to pick up the perfect match, a boho dip-dyed strapless dress. Karli of Cake and Cookie LLC created an “anniversary” mini cake with texture to match the ruching of the dress, and Nichole of Petal Pusher created the colorful, natural bouquet and floral crown that really brought the shoot together. Â Caroline of Mint Salon provided Andrea’s hair and make-up and also rendered styling and assistance throughout the entire shoot. The final touch was Tre’s gray linen tux supplied and fitted by DuBois Formalwear on Broadway. I had my wedding vendor dream team.
Green Bay Wedding Photographers
The day couldn’t have been better. At Mint Salon we relaxed, got to know Andrea and Tre, and watched Caroline work her magic before heading to the barn. Once there, the wind died down, the sun came out, and Andrea got zipped into her gown, a perfect fit. We styled little scenes, posed and teased Andrea and Tre, and photographed until the sun went down – doves cooing and farm kitties scurrying about. The night ended with cake, champagne, and sparklers (because that’s how we celebrate!) It was an incredible day and a good reminder to trust your ideas and run with them whenever possible.
